Canine Chiropractic Care

Dr. Sarah Heath treats her small animal patients at Willow Grove Animal Wellness Centre which is located just east of Woodstock. Willow Grove Animal Wellness Centre is an animal boarding, rehabilitation and day care facility. Each canine chiropractic visit includes a detailed health history, gait analysis, a physical assessment, and treatment (if not contraindicated).

What to expect

The gait analysis is conducted on a leash usually at a walk unless other gaits are needed to be assessed. At-home videos from the owner are also encouraged in cases where gait changes are intermittent. The physical exam includes a full assessment of soft tissue structures and joint mobility throughout the spine and the extremities. A full-body approach is always taken to ensure nothing is missed. A treatment for a canine patient can include soft tissue work, manual chiropractic adjustments and grade 3B therapeutic laser therapy. At home stretches or strength exercises can be prescribed when necessary.

If patients are unable to make it to Willow Grove Animal Wellness Centre, at-home visits are also an option on a patient-to-patient basis depending on location. Between visits, clients are encouraged to stay in touch to make sure the dog is receiving the best possible care. Collaboration with a veterinarian or other practitioners managing the case is also very important to ensure proper care of each dog.
